Dean Burk, Chief Chemist Emeritus, U.S. National Cancer Institute, states "Fluoride causes more human cancer death, and causes it faster than any other chemical." Over half the U.S. population is drinking fluoridated water, even though irrefutable evidence links fluoride to arthritis and cancer. Fluoride, a by-product of industry--most commonly in the form of hydrofluosilcic acid from the manufacture of phosphate fertilizers--acts as a direct cellular poison by interfering with calcium metabolism and enzyme mechanisms.* Fluoride, like lead accumulates in the body, inflicting its damage over long periods of time. Fluoride is more toxic than lead and just slightly less toxic than arsenic.** Contrary to the propaganda we have received about fluoride, it does not have a major impact on cavity incidence.
